When to Visit an Asthma Specialist?

Asthma is one of the most dangerous Lung Diseases for which the world is yet to find a cure. To make matters worse, severe cases of Asthma can even result in death. It is responsible for millions of deaths worldwide. Thus, it is very important that you know when to consult your Asthma Specialist. Asthma is classified on the basis of the severity of the symptoms, which will be discussed in this blog. The earlier you go an Asthma Specialist, the better the chances of coming back to normal life.

Intermittent

This is the first phase of Asthma where mostly the disease goes undetected. The frequency of the symptom is less than or equal to 2 times per week. The attacks are mild and almost always occur during the night and early morning. If detected at this stage, the treatment is easiest and fast. However, since the attacks are mild and almost always occur during sleep, Asthma mostly goes undetected at this stage.

Mild Persistent

The next stage, when the attacks turn more frequent and are noticeable, has been given the term mild persistent. However, due to ignorance about the deadliness of the disease, even at this stage, patients do not make it a point to visit a good Asthma Treatment Center. This stage is still safer than the later stages and there are instances when an Asthmatic patient has been easily brought back to normal life from this stage.

Moderate Persistent

This is the stage when Asthma turns deadly and the attacks occur on a daily basis. It becomes difficult to maintain a normal lifestyle as the attack for the day can occur at any moment. Arrival of this stage signals the requirement of an immediate consultation with an Asthma Specialist.

Severe Persistent

This is stage when the attacks happen frequently every day making the continuation of normal life impossible. Hospitalization occurs in most cases of patients who have reached this stage.

It is very important to notice the symptoms of Asthma which include wheezing, coughing, tightness in the chest, and shortness of breath. Asthma is a progressive disease and the stages follow one another in at a very fast rate. It is important to be faster than that in making a visit to the Asthma Specialist.

Take Care of Your Lungs as Winter Prepares to Set Foot in Delhi & NCR

As the country prepares to go into the winter mode, Lung Specialists in Delhi & NCR prepare to tackle the increase in the number of Lung Disease patients. The capital and the National Capital Region are notorious for the high levels of air pollution. As the autumn wind dies to give way to the winters, the danger of pollutants near the ground and at breathing levels increase. According to WHO reports, Delhi has witnessed almost 30% rise in Lung Infections since 2010. India’s National Health Profile 2015 puts the total number of reported cases of acute respiratory infection in 2014 at 3.5 million. This is 140,000 more cases than 2013. India is also infamous as being the country with the highest number of deaths from Lung Diseases.

Another scary fact, in the story of Delhi’s pollution, is the high increase in the levels of Particulate Matter (PM). These pollutants, after finding their way down the respiratory tract, have the capacity to lodge themselves deep in the Lungs. They are responsible for a variety of Lung Diseases like asthma, bronchitis, etc. Continuous exposure to PM is a known reason for the development of Lung Cancer. Dr. Himanshu Garg, a leading Lung Specialist of the country states, “We see a high increase in the number of patients at Respiratory & Sleep Cure Solutions during the winters. The static air, along with the onset of festivals, makes matters worse as the amount of pollutants in the breathing zone increases.”

Take ample care of your Lungs this winter. Any symptoms of Lung Infection should be promptly followed by a visit to a Lung Specialist. Play your role as a good citizen and keep away from fire crackers and open fires. It would be highly advisable for those already suffering from Lung Infections, especially asthma, to make a visit to their regular Lung Treatment Center.

India’s Concern Called Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis or TB in India is one of the top most concerns which still affect the health sector of the country. India has the highest burden of TB cases in the whole world. Out of the total of 9 million cases of Tuberculosis in the world, 2.1 million cases exit in India. The figures, which were released by the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), also state that an alarming 40% of the Indians suffer from TB. Let us look at some of the reasons which put India in this seat of infamy.

The average living conditions in India is ideal for the TB bacteria to grow and spread. With 21.9%, of the total population, living below the poverty line, the stage gets set for unsanitary conditions, cases of poor nutrition and compromised immune system. In fact the lack of proper nutrition during the period of treatment is a very prominent reason for cases of relapses and failures in Tuberculosis Treatment. The large population of India also makes containment of the disease a difficult affair.

Another important factor, which makes a devil out of Tuberculosis in India, is the lack of awareness about the disease. Most of the TB patients wait till they are in the later stages of the disease. The similarity, of the symptoms with the common cold, often deters and delays visits to the Pulmonologist or Lung Specialist. It is a serious matter requiring immediate attention as Tuberculosis kills 50% of the infected, if left untreated.

Play your part in India’s fight against Tuberculosis. Visit your nearest center for Tuberculosis Treatment and get expert advice on the same. Also, any signs of cold should be taken seriously and followed with a visit to a Lung Specialist. If you wait too long, you may discover the wolf called TB in a sheep’s clothing.

Steps in Tuberculosis Treatment

Tuberculosis (TB) is defined as an infection due to the various strains of mycobacteria. Although predominantly found in the Lungs, cases of TB infecting other parts of the body are also present. Tuberculosis Treatment takes a long time, which usually ranges from six to nine months. But fortunately, it is completely curable. Let us look at some of the most common steps which make up the process of Tuberculosis Treatment.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis is of much importance in TB Treatment as for it to be effective; various things about the type of TB have to be considered. This is because different types of TB react in different manners to different drugs. For example, the methods of Latent Tuberculosis Treatment and those of Active Tuberculosis Treatment are different. Also, a lot depends on the area of infection.

Prescription

The diagnosis will lead to the appropriate prescription then. The prescription, apart from the type of TB, also depends on the level of drug resistance. Better researches have led to the discovery of various combinations of drugs to tackle the problem of multi drug resistance. The development of multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis has made the requirement of consultation by a Tuberculosis Specialist even more vital.

Care during the Medicine Course

The speed, at which the course of medicine reacts, depends on a lot of other things too. The most important, among them all, is a nutritious diet. Adequate levels of vitamins and other nutrients are required for the body to be able to properly fight back Tuberculosis. Proper rest is another important requirement to ensure effective recovery.

Due to the long period of Tuberculosis Treatment and the nature of drugs used, the risk for side-effects is also very high. If you feel loss of appetite, vomiting tendency, nauseated, or cramps (especially in the stomach area), instead of stopping the medicines, consult your Tuberculosis Specialist immediately.

4 Lesser-Known Facts about Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer is diagnosed as the uncontrolled growth of cells in Lung tissues. We are familiar with the general facts involving Lung Cancer, like smoking tobacco being the most major cause of Lung Cancer. However, further research has brought to light more facts about the deadly disease. Let us discuss a few of them here.

Treatment Depends on the Stage

The type of Lung Cancer Treatment depends on the stage of the cancer. The stage, where the cancer is confined to only a certain part of the lung, is called stage 1. The rest of the stages depend on the extent, of spread, of the cancerous cells. Stage 4A and 4B are typically designated to episodes when the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. While stage 1 can be effectively treated with surgery, the later stages require more complex and expert treatment. This is why it is very important to visit a Lung Specialist at the slightest hints of the symptoms.

Genes Play a Role in the Response to Treatment

The role of genes in Lung Cancer Treatment was discovered only in recent years. This is another aspect which makes it a task for the experts. Treatment, which corresponds with the genes of the patient, will always yield faster results.

Female Cancer Patients are Increasing

It has been noted that recent decades have seen an alarming rise in the rate of Lung Cancer cases in women. However, thankfully, this rise in rate has been stabilized now. The rise was associated with a higher number of women taking to smoking.

Include Fruits & Vegetables

Although it is still being researched, a lot of experts believe that fruits and vegetables can keep Lung Cancer at bay. Thus, we have another important reason for including the fruits and greens in our diet.

The above are a few facts about Lung Cancer which you might not have known. Even as research continues to find more effective Lung Cancer Treatment, even in its later stages, for now, your promptness in fixing that appointment with the Lung Specialist can play a vital role in saving you.
